Dental Veneers at Paradise Valley Smiles

If you've looked in the mirror and wished your teeth were straighter or brighter or had a smile enhancing your self-esteem, porcelain veneers may be a fantastic option.

Dental veneers are fragile shells, usually made of porcelain or resin, that are bonded to the front of your teeth to enhance the beauty of your smile.

They are an excellent choice because the color and translucency of porcelain or resin are a great match for the natural appearance of tooth enamel. These materials are also stain resistant, so your smile will stay bright for years.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are long-lasting restorations that can transform your smile. This thin covering is applied to the front of existing teeth and is custom-made to fit your needs.

What Are Veneers Used for?

Dental veneers are not only used to improve the appearance of your smile. Because they are custom-made, they can be used for a single tooth or your entire smile. They can also be suggested for:

- Closing significant gaps and spaces between teeth.

- Restore teeth that are broken, chipped, worn, or fractured.

- Whiten teeth that are badly stained or discolored.

- Correct slightly crooked teeth.

- Improve the appearance of irregularly shaped teeth.

- Restore confidence with a long-lasting smile to be proud of.

Different Types of Veneers

Dental veneers come in different colors and materials, but no matter which one you choose, veneers are designed to be thin, stain-resistant, and durable.

There are three main types of materials for veneers:

Porcelain veneers

These are usually the veneers of choice for patients who want to make minor modifications to their teeth or change their teeth' shape, size, and color. They can be highly durable and natural looking but are more expensive and require a special polishing paste. Also, if they break, they cannot be repaired and will need to be replaced.

Ceramic veneers

These are one of the most commonly used types of veneers. They are generally considered an excellent choice for many patients because of their natural look, ability to mimic natural teeth and durability. Keep in mind that they can take longer to create than other types, you may experience some tooth sensitivity for a few days after treatment, but it is temporary.

Resin veneers

This material is usually commonly used; however, they are not shipped or created in a dental laboratory. Economically they cost less but typically have different long-lasting results than other materials.

Composite veneers

Some patients prefer composite veneers because of their cost-effectiveness. In addition, they are usually placed in a single treatment, which reduces the need for numerous dental visits. They also require less tooth preparation and are generally very economical. It should be noted that because they are more affordable, they are more likely to stain, break, or chip. They have a lifespan of approximately five years.

What to Expect When Getting Dental Veneers?

Veneers require two visits to the dentist to be placed. The time needed for this process depends on the type of veneer chosen. Once we have determined that the veneers are right for you, we will take impressions of your teeth.

On your first visit, your teeth will be polished and trimmed to create space for the incoming veneer. An impression of your teeth will be taken, and you will be provided with temporary veneers to cover the filled teeth between visits.

The lab will use your impressions to fabricate your custom porcelain or resin veneers. Once they are finished, the lab sends them to our office.

At the second appointment, the temporary veneers are removed. Once the patient has approved the look and feel of the newly received veneer, it is bonded. The teeth will be cleaned before bonding with liquids designed to assist the cement. Once the bonding cement is placed between the veneer and the tooth, a high-power light will harden and set it.

Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Veneers?

If you have good oral health, no cavities or infections, teeth discoloration, slightly misaligned teeth, gaps, misshapen or small teeth, worn-down or chipped teeth, you might be a good candidate for dental veneers.

However, the best way to know is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Brannon to discuss your specific case. Dr. Brannon's years of experience and his team of experts will ensure the best treatment plan that best suits your needs. After all, every smile is unique, and so should your treatment plan!
